Ryan Formsma
Senior Vice President
Ryan is a results-driven leader with a proven track record spanning 30+ years. His accomplishments shine through award-winning projects, where he’s provided guidance and resources for truly unique residential experiences.
His journey started early, learning the ropes of construction and industry standards side by side with his father and brother-in-law. About 15 years ago, he took his skills to the Caribbean and Southern Florida, where he spent almost a decade overseeing the construction of luxurious beach villas and mega yachts. Now, back in West Michigan, he’s using that wealth of experience to elevate the high-end residential market.
Transforming his client’s concepts into reality and navigating the challenges accompanying these endeavors fuels Ryan’s daily motivation. In addition to overseeing the construction of over 300 homes during his illustrious career, Ryan enjoys golfing, skiing, hiking, and cheering on his children at their sporting events. Ryan’s preferred getaway destination is the captivating White Bay, British Virgin Islands.

Derek’s enthusiasm lies in staying engaged throughout each client’s journey. Witnessing the elation and contentment that light up clients’ faces as they witness their dream homes materialize is the true highlight of his career.
When asked about the driving force behind his work, Derek attributes it to his dedicated team and valued clients, expressing, “The ability to turn our clients’ dreams into reality, from initial conception to ultimate fruition, is a profoundly rewarding experience.” Beyond his professional life, Derek is often found fishing or immersing himself in the tranquility of the woods during hunting season. In addition, Derek, along with his wife Audrey, their twins, Colt and Lyla, and their youngest son, Boone, proudly owns and manages a hobby farm.
Daryl Bird
Millwork Manager
Possessing over 20 years of experience in residential construction, Daryl began building cabinets in 2008 when he was working as a trim carpenter for a residential builder, which included site-built cabinetry on residential projects. As the price of cabinets from suppliers rose and the quality of cabinets started to fall, Daryl began a custom cabinet shop that he managed until joining the Red Jasper team.
Daryl’s favorite aspect of his job is incorporating clients’ unique requests with innovative solutions to build quality products while meeting their individual needs. He credits his background in residential construction for enabling him to create and build the custom cabinetry found in Red Jasper homes.
Daryl’s enthusiasm for his craft derives from the satisfaction of designing, creating, and constructing exceptional custom cabinets that seamlessly cater to the unique needs of his clients. In addition to cabinet making, Daryl’s interests extend to all things water-related during the summer and playing and watching sports year-round. One of his bucket list items is to travel to Banff, Canada, with his wife, Heather, and their four children – Harlan, Haley, Hayden, and Hazel.
